Mother's Day (1)

It's 6:45am. The alarm goes off (Eva waking up). I walk over to her room and am reminded of her joy and beauty as she flashes me a smile. She reaches for my arms and I dance with her, back to bed, to give her a morning feed. It's 7:30. Brandon rolls over and says, "Happy Mother's Day". My heart is full, knowing that he has set this day aside for me, right from the start.

We get our snazzy outfits on and head out of the house. Hotel Hershey, here we come!

Breakfast was delicious. I wish I had another word, that wasn't so cliche, to describe it. The foods were steamy and sweet and the view out the dining room windows was radiant. Flowers blooming and fluffy clouds painted the sky for such an occasion. Eva chatted along with our morning conversation. We both got a little teary-eyed thinking on the last year and the joy that parenthood had brought to us. Who knew we could be so sappy?! Oh yeah, Eva had her first taste of whipped cream too. Ha! She licked every last drip from her chin. Adorable!

After breakfast (and a Spa gift card), the 3 of us zoomed home for Eva's morning nap. The girl is like clock-work when it comes to her naps. Brandon created a thoughtful, endearing, video for his mom for mother's day. It featured all 3 of us and a cute poem he found with just the right words. We ventured to Panera Bread to grab lunch for my mom, and headed to her place for an afternoon hangout. What a great day so far! Mama, mom, and more mom stuff!

At 4:30, we finally pulled in the driveway and meandered into the house for the evening. Brandon pulled yet another trick out of his hat, a starbucks travel cup for cold lattes. My favorite!

I realized that throughout the past 9 months, since little Eva Bean was born, Brandon has treasured and valued the time and passion that I have poured out for our baby. Many moments out of pure exhaustion in the beginning, now out of pure adoration for this growing treasure, a piece of God's own image. I think Mother's Day may be one of my favorite days of the year. Is that selfish? Nooo, it's just that amazing. ;)
