Cravings. Crave-ings!

Pregnancy has more stereotypes than my daughter has toys. Stereotypes for how women will act, what they will look like, how they start to think, and even what delivery will look and sound like. The fact is, a lot of these stereotypes may be true. Today, I'd like you to take a glimpse into my psyche. A little tour of what stimulates my brain in a 24 hour period.

Food. No, I'm not changing topics. That is it. Food. I think about food. My taste buds salivate as my mind shifts into gourmet mode and creations are flying through my head as I drive to the grocery store. I woke up the other morning and told Brandon about a grilled sandwich with fresh slices of tomato and a dab of honey mustard. His response, "You mean, you actually think about these things?" Heck yeah I think about these things! If I have an acute sense towards food and food combinations, it's while I'm pregnant.

My Grandma Stout has always said that she is a copier. She may not come up with ideas on her own, but once she has an idea she will put her stamp on it until it reaches perfection. After 28 years, I've realized that my creativity usually falls into that same category: copy cat. In the past 2 weeks I have spooned and forked and drooled over these tasty creations and if I can share even 1 of them with someone who will enjoy the flavor as much, I think my job here is a success.

Crave #1: Wheat bread, smoked turkey, Cooper sharp (a cheddar), Ken's Honey Mustard (has to be Ken's lowfat), freshly sliced tomatoes with a dash of sea salt, all grilled to perfection. You will be eating this for lunch and maybe even throw an egg in the mix for a delicious breakfast.

Crave #2: Cheeseburger Soup over Mashed Potatoes! My best bud Kelly made this soup and had left over smashed potatoes from Thanksgiving. After trying the soup over the potatoes, I don't think I will ever go back to dicing them into the soup.

Crave #3: Freshly brewed sweet tea. I can't get enough of the southern drink. Try 1/2 cup of sugar for an entire pitcher. I promise you will want more.

Crave #4:Slow Cooker French Dip. This recipe is so easy, but I guarantee you and your husband (if you've got one) will crawl back to the dinner table for seconds. I tried it with Onion Rolls, melted cheddar and horseradish. Unbelievable!

Crave #5: Tzatziki. This Greek concoction can be eaten by itself, on a salad, or on a piece of chicken or red meat. It's so addicting. Simple ingredients: cucumber, vinegar, yogurt, mayo or sour cream, fresh dill, garlic, salt, pepper.

For some reason I always wanted restaurant food-not food I had to cook :) One time I wanted Red Robin Fries with ranch so bad, but for some reason we didn't have time to stop. I nearly broke out weeping. Ridiculous but pregnant! Thanks for the tip-can't wait to try the french dip...

Red Robin fries and ranch?!?! I kid you not, that is my ULTIMATE crave. Lol. Brandon would be rollin' on the floor laughing if he read your comment. He would take me there all the time during my first pregnancy. I think things have changed the second time around because I'm in such a routine of cooking dinner at home now. And, if I'm gonna take time to cook it...it better be delish! Miss ya Jenny. :) Looking forward to some hangtime!
