"Switch places! Switch? We can do it. We're twins, aren't we?" This is circa 1961, the original (and only) Parent Trap. And, for the time being, this is our house. Our bedrooms. They are being switched. All three of them, completely rearranged, repainted, and redesigned. Oh, how I love this and hate this all in the same breath. I love the creativity that is swirled up into these projects, but hate the process of it all.
Natalie, our west coast sister, suggested a mere "switch", in order to make baby number 2 have a comfortable transition into our abode. Eva moves upstairs into the loft, we move into Eva's room (she has the full closet and biggest bathroom), and baby boy takes the suite across the hall. The kids will have their own bathrooms and closets and Eva won't be woken up by a hungry baby in the wee hours of the mornin'. Perfection. Now, if I could just twinkle my nose and make it all happen.
Here are the SWATCHES and my thoughts so far for baby boy's room. A nice gray for the walls, not too dark and not too light. Brown berber fabric for the curtains with THIS trim. I have about 6 frames for the wall, each filled with original prints from Big Sis Eva. Her artistic flare will welcome baby boy into his room each day as we play and change diapers. (So many teensie diapers!) Kell found this great CRIB for a song on Overstocked, and it's sleek and modern, which Daddy and I tend to lean towards when picking furniture. We have espresso brown furniture which the little guy will inherit and an espresso chair, where I'm sure we will spend hours staring, nursing, and getting to know each other.
Bedding. Oh, bedding. This is where my creativity has come to a hault for the moment. Do I make the bumper and skirt? Do I buy them? What colors? From where? I found a brown fitted sheet from Target, but beyond that, I'm donezo. I'm thinking nature. Organic. Lots of earthy colors with a BAM! splash of color every once in a while. But I can't wrap my mind around this bedding yet. More to come. Please leave me a link if you have any great sites for boy bedding.
Here is a pic of Eva's bedroom, which will be transported to the loft (the best room in the house if you ask me, skylight and all). We had such a great time preparing for her arrival and this special time of prep for baby boy is no different. Off to create...

Wow-Eva's room is darling. But it sounds like you have some pretty cool ideas ;) I found this crib set for Zion-it's made by Willow or Willow line organics or something...i'll post a few pics to your Fb of it. It's nature, mod, and I think the colors would go great with what you're talking about.
