Remember in school, the teacher who called on any student at random, even if they didn't raise their hand?! Man, that always made me nervous. It was those teachers that I always made sure my homework was done for and I would actually keep up on the reading.
Growing up Shelly Brown style, I never knew when I would be "called" on. At any moment someone might need a word of prayer or a little worship music might be needed during a local gathering. In the moment, I probably felt a little nervous (ok, really nervous), but afterward the feeling of stepping out and actually being hands and feet on the earth, that feeling is unmatched.
Wednesday night (church), just like back in the "youth group days", Brandon and I were asked to find someone to pray for. We were supposed to pray whatever we were "hearing" and we were praying for people that we don't know. We both paired up with new acquaintances and sat down within a few short minutes. On the way home I admitted that the woman I prayed for was on the "a little strange" list in my head. I had seen her for years, but never had a conversation. The words she prayed over me, spoke directly to my heart and were completely from heaven. Huh. Sam, do not judge. Brandon continued with his "coincidental" prayer in which he spoke promotion and boldness over a guy, who at the end chuckled as he told Brandon about his new job position in which he was going to supervise other employees.
It's in those moments where we step out on the water, not knowing if we will sink or stand, that we choose faith instead of fear. The grocery store. Your family. The kid across the street. Listen to what He's saying to you about them, then go. GO! Be hands and feet. I dare ya. I dare myself!
For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. Luke 21:15
