Take me out to the ball game!

It was a wonderful weekend. A much needed refresher. Our first hiatus from parenting two. An "abesnce makes the heart grow fonder" kind of event.
Grace and Jeremy totally blessed us, freaked us out, with tickets to an Orioles games, 11 rows away from first base (so close I actually touched one of the foul balls that bounced our way).
Mom stayed home and lavished "Grandma Time" on the kiddos while we galavanted like children ourselves. Tailgating, sunflower-chewing, late night appetizering, sleeping in (until 8), breakfast at the hotel, and then to top it all off...s h o p p i n g. Say. No. More.
Something can be said for a retreat, I mean, it was Jesus himself who would leave the others behind to get away with His Daddy God for a few minutes, hours. There is something to be said for purposely turning off the technology and setting the distractions on a shelf (No, I'm not saying my kids are a distraction. Come on, you know what I mean). Tuning in to the abnormal. The refreshing.

Brandon gave us all orders to "dream tonight" so we could wake up and talk about it. I dreamt I was in a gorgeous mansion. Gorgeous, except it was on fire. There was a party taking place and no one seemed to notice the massive flames and the crackling from burning wood. Calmly, I started scampering around, shushing people outside. No one was listening, the dancing and chatting continued.

I amped it up. A little louder and a little more serious. "Guys, this house is on fire. Get out!". Nothing. No one moved. Quite the opposite, I was getting dirty looks for ruining the party. All pride aside, I started screaming and shouting like a crazy person, running from room to room. "Get out, fire, guys, get out of the house!"

I woke up with what seemed like an immediate interpretation. I believe that dreams have meaning and we can learn a lot from what they have to say. The fire in the dream represented God's love. It's my desire that everyone would know how loved they are. No strings attached. Ever. However, no amount of screaming or shouting will convey that love. Even though it's true. People need to hear through relationship. They need to see sincerity and example and authority (from the Holy Spirit) which will make a way into their hearts to receive what truth is being shared.

The people at the party needed to know that the house was on fire, but my lack of authority and relationship with them caused my words to be ineffective.

Do you dream? Do you ever feel like your dreams have meaning?
