S.A.D. but not SAD

I heard it lurking from a friend's HeyTell message. Upside down faces. No more beams streaming in through the windows.

Sun, why have you gone and left me?! Boo hoo hoo.

Ya know, I didn't even know what Seasonal Affective Disorder was when I was a kid. In fact, I can't remember the time change or lack of daylight either. I just played. Carried on. Lived in the moment.

I could feel the pull last week, 5 looooong days of clouds and cold temps. My body anxious for sun, warmth, and fresh air. But, today is a new day and the sun is streaming in my windows again. It was actually always there, just hiding out for a bit.

I declare from my little MacBook Pro and this blog/journal of mine, that S.A.D will not take a seat in my house this year. Not in my car. Not in my head.

REJOICE in the Lord ALWAYS (not just in the summer). I will say it again: REJOICE!

If Paul and Silas can rejoice in a stinkin' jail cell at midnight then I surely can choose to rejoice my way through the winter. And ya know what?! Because they chose to rejoice, not only were they set free, but the prison guard chose Jesus because of what happened! They rejoiced in the midst of a depressing situation and it set others free!

Ha Haaaaaaaaa!!! Yessssss! Do it again!

If you get a little gloomy in the cold, dark, winter or maybe it's a season of life that you're going through right now...I WILL pray for you. I will stand with you and I will rejoice for you.

Cheers to this season. Right now. Today.

P.S. Practical tips to help you make it through the cold:
Join the gym. You'll feel good about yourself and your body will thank you.
Tan. The vitamin D and warm glow will make you feel cozy.
Flowers. Buy a little bunch for yourself at the grocery (or have your man surprise you weekly). Every time you look at them you will surely smile of spring.
Take fish oil. Your brain will thank you.
