Poison Sumac, Methylprednisolone, and PICTURE UPDATES

About 2 weeks ago I was doing what I always do, rip out weeds and cut back unwanted trees/shrubs.

S T O P.

What I was ALSO doing was touching, cutting, and digging in Poison Sumac! This is not ok folks. Immunity to poison ivy will only get you so far. This Poison Sumac is a completely different beast.

Long story short, I ran to the Dr. and hopped on some steroids, Methylprednisolone, to be exact. Problem solved, so I thought, until I had the worst case of sadsappyunhappynojoyrenovationblowout blues. It was terrible. I have relistened to Voxes and I don't even know who that girl was!

Apparently that was a side effect and I didn't realize it until after a week of treatment AND it didn't seem to make the healing process from all the hellish Sumac any better anyway.

IT WAS RELENTLESSLY AWFUL.

So, I put that story to rest and I hope you never have to hear about me and poison or me and steroids ever again. Ever.

I'm sure you've already scrolled past my drama and looked over the pics from our renovations. The kids played in their rooms last night while I slowly moved boxes in from the garage. A box labeled, "Eva's Toys", kept them busy for hours. Little footsteps back and forth between their rooms brought tears to my eyes.

This is really happening. This is really gonna be the place where we sleep and raise our family and party with our friends like it's 1999...or something like that.

Without further ado...
The Hickory Floors are finished (and dusty)!
The variation in color is just what we had hoped for.
Faceplates, like facelifts, make a big difference.

No more hanging wires.
And now to line these bad boys...
Kitchen cabinets, in progress. From left to right, pantry-dishwasher-sink-counter-stove-counter-refrigerator. Island in middle houses the microwave and trash.

This project is in progress today. Cutting marble for the powder bathroom floors.
After reading great advice on Insta and FB, we decided on another flooring option, marble subway tiles in a herringbone pattern. It wasn't you, it was us! I can't wait to see it completed with the gray grout!

Cheers to moms who let their kids live with them, husbands who build homes for their families, projects getting completed, and God speaking wisdom in the midst of it all.
