Ya know, sometimes you think you know. You think in your toddler brain that you can do it "by yourself". You think in your teenager mindset that you "don't need anyone". But then you grow. You turn 20 and then 25. Whoa, then you're celebrating 30. Something changes. I mean, something changed for me anyway. I think in your early 20's you want to believe that you know a little bit of something. But then as you start 30, you realize that you don't really know a smidge of something, but you are hungry, ravenous even, to know more.
I was reading a 1 minute blip from Jesus Calling yesterday and the author talks about busyness and chaos. I chewed on it for the morning and then the afternoon came and God spoke to me.
"It's not always about simplifying your life. Sometimes it's about staying connected during the chaos."
Hmm. Huh. I had always thought in my little mind that life was about cutting out the unnecessary distractions so that we could get more clarity from Him. It made me start thinking about, The Bible, that 10 hour series on the History Channel. The disciples were given a mission, tell the world about Jesus. Their lives weren't very quiet and simple. They were running from city to city, going to jail and being persecuted. They were having secret meetings and preaching to hundreds. And then there was John. God took him into a season of simplifying, he took him to the Island of Patmos. That's what I call getting really simple. Being exiled.
Anyway, I guess I'm just realizing that no matter what season of life we are in or walking toward, the goal is simple.
Stay connected (to Him).
We, our family, is in a crazyawesomeholdonfordearlife kind of season. We've been in the same home for 8 years and now God gave us this miracle house. Ha! I know, right?! And it's so coincidental to me that I've been living on words like, "Life is not an emergency", and "Stay connected during the chaos". Wow! His timing is just so perfect, isn't it?!
In your life, I know it's not any different. Start to look for it. Look for how He moves. Start to see from His perspective. Wow. Just wow.
So if you are in a season of simple. Embrace it for what it is. Look for the good gifts you've been given. Don't wish it away, because trust me, there is a reason you are where you are, right. now. And if you are in a season of chaos, haha, it's not time to check out. He WANTS and IS speaking to you in the midst of it all. Stay connected! Do what you have to do, but stay connected.
Have a Lovely Weekend.
