It started out as a simple text, until He came.
I pulled the clothes out of the dryer, until He came.
The drive with sunshine seemed amiss, until He came.
Have you ever had a party, and it's good, but something changes when "THAT" person gets there? The friend who says all the funny jokes or the husband you've been waiting to spend time with. Maybe it's someone you've wanted to catchup with, stop being so surfacy.
Life can be good, but is can exceed greatness when someone shows up. When He shows up. When we show up and we carry Him inside our hearts, the atmosphere changes.
When mountains tremble at the sound of His voice, when walls of hurt, crumble at His breath, when He enters a room of physical brokenness and the broken walks, healed, life can't be lived the same again.
These are altars.
I don't want to live like the Israelites, I don't want to forget. I don't want to complain when the blessing has already come and there is more just across the horizon.
I want to remember the altars.
Jesus, come and wreck the party! Turn the water into wine. Have your way throughout my mundane day and help me to recognize and remember you. Always. You are Him. You are the one your kids are waiting for, because when you come, everything changes. It gets better. It gets free. Love comes.
I'm overwhelmed today, with this guy. The God of the universe. The God of all creation, whom I describe to my 3-year old, when she asks me where Jesus lives.
"Does Jesus live up in that cloud?"
"He does live in heaven, with His daddy, but He lives in our house too. He lives in your heart and He loves you sooooo much."
Shouting at the top of her lungs, "Jeeeeesssssssssuuuuussssss! What are you doing?, " she belts to the clouds.
"Just listen and see what He says to you. It might sound like words or it might look like a picture in your mind."
"I don't hear anything."
I pause, and I listen.
"He told me what He was doing, Eva."
She looks at me, curious.
"He said He's listening to you."
Take that word today. That's not just for the 3-year old. It was for me. It's for you. He's listening to you. He's gonna wreck your party if you invite Him.
Send out the invite.
Cheers to you. You're awesome.
