After much prayer and number crunching, Brandon and I have decided to stay in our house and not try to peruse the market for a new abode. Hallelujah, a decision has been made. If you know me, like my friends know me, you can be impressed that up to this point I have not bought a single item for Eva, nor have I put any real thought into designing her room/furniture etc. Now, however, I have much peace about staying in the house and am ready to paint this baby a picture.
What color would she like her walls to be? Will she have pastel or bold taste? How about something to sleep in? A hammock? A co-sleeper? A bassinet? How about a Moses basket? A changing table or a dresser? How about both. Nipple shapes for bottles. Breast pumps, double or single? Cloth diapers or disposable? So many decisions to be made!
Over the weekend, Brandon and I spent our "Valentine's Day" shopping for Eva and just being lovers in love (or lovers in Japan, as my dear friend Chris would say). We headed for Baltimore and made our first stop at Chic-Fil-A. Brandon was in his glory with a chicken sandwich and sweet tea. After extensive hours at IKEA, we ventured home and took a detour at BabiesRUs. In case you have never been to the parking lot of this place, there are about 50 reserved spots in the front for "expecting mothers". I have long awaited the day that I could park in one of those close spots...and the day had come. We snaked our way around each aisle, making sure to not miss items like "butt paste" or "my brest friend". I am not making this up. These are real products that we are supposed to take seriously now that we are expecting a child. Who comes up with these titles anyway???
So to wrap up this ramble, it was a splendid weekend. Three days with Brandon. No agenda. No plans. Just the two of us and the wind at our backs. I have included a couple pictures of our first purchases for the little girl. A chandelier that Brandon bought and installed for her. It is absolutely beautiful. And personalized pacifiers from me. Just in case some kid tries to take hers and run off with it. They sparkle, just like she does!
