In the Spring of 2008, a little bird by the name of "Luke" arrived on our deck and decided to become friends with our sliding glass door. Every morning he would insist on pounding his beak into the door in hopes to fly inside our kitchen. When I say every morning, I mean 6am every day. Luke would wake us up every day, without exception. I named the bird "Luke" because all of the Lukes that I know are very persistent and never seem to give up.
Completely forgetting about our friend Luke, throughout my pregnancy I have pictured Eva as a little bird inside of me. Funny thing is, the word "bird" is referenced over 3oo times in the Bible. God uses the character of birds and the sign of birds throughout the Old and New Testament. Over the weekend, Brandon and I began painting Eva's room (with A LOT of help from my mom) and I was reminded of our bird-friend Luke. Could it be that in 2008 Jesus sent Luke to us as a sign of "new beginnings" and that this "little bird" would arrive in 2009? 2008 is the year of new beginnings and 2009 is the year of fulfillment...could it be?!
I am so thankful that His ways are SO much higher than mine. I am SO thankful that His thoughts are deeper than mine. There is so much to be seen in the unseen. God, let us all hear your heartbeat and walk in sync with your steps.

So glad to hear you had a super birthday featuring a surprise arrival - by Brandon. No doubt spring is soon to arrive along with the return of Luke to your deck post!
