I seriously woke up with butterflies. As giddy as a kindergardener on the first day of school (new outfit and all). We have been a family of 3 since July, and I, the mom, have never left my baby except to teach piano lessons for a mere 2 hours on Thursday nights. When I leave her, she is home with Daddy. A comfortable face, a soothing voice, and a familiar touch. But Friday, was a day that will go down in history. A day to be written about in Eva's baby book (if I ever get around to writing in a baby book). Brandon and I went on our first date since the babe was born. Flutter, flutter, my heart was ready for a night out, but my heart was also torn in two.
Valentine's Day came and went. Brandon had to work a show, which is typical because this show is scheduled every year for Valentine's Day (lame). We made plans to move the day to Friday. Superb! My mom graciously (and excitedly) volunteered to babysit while we were out. She is able to finish work around 2pm (Did you thank your mail carrier today?) and then jet over to let me off the hook. Wonderful. I had the whole morning to prep, nails, hair, makeup. That's right, I even got out of comfy clothes!
I spent about an hour of the afternoon making a detailed list of Eva's routines, how to put her down for a nap, and how to feed her a bottle, etc. Trying to write what I do each day is a lengthy process! When 2 o'clock rolled around, I ran through a quick "put the baby down for a nap" charade and was greeted by Brandon and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers! Alas, I have been waiting for this day a long time! So fun! We scampered out of the house like teenagers on our first date and headed to Color Me Mine. Painting pottery sure does bring out the personalities in people. Brandon is the thinker. He takes his time, lamenting over each color and pattern choice. I, am the, "Go with your gut" type of girl. I picked my colors and started painting while Brandon asks the sales lady for advice. Insert smile here. I love this guy.
After our pottery was painted (Brandon didn't quite get finished so we'll go back and continue painting), we were in route to Pizza Grille. Delicious Crab Stuffed Pizza, Roasted Salmon with Vodka Sauce, and a Mojito to top it all off. Wow! What a date!
At this point, thoughts about Eva are starting to overcrowd my thoughts about the delicious food. Did she nap? Is she crying? Is the miniature bottle I pumped going to hold her over until we come home? Alright, it was time for us to head back to Buckley Drive. A little anxious, I text mom to let her know we were 20 minutes out. To our complete comfort, when we arrived, Eva had napped and finished the bottle. Ahh, a sigh of relief. We did it! We left her and had a great time and were crazy excited to get back. Thanks Mom!!!
Til next time...

I'm so glad you got that time together. Isn't it fun to still get butterflies, after all this time!?
